Breathtaking Wonders of Gilgit Baltistan
From the magnificent mountain ranges to ancient ruins and lakes, with a variety of wildlife, Gilgit is a captivating place to study. There are countless things to see and do here especially if you’re an adventure junkie.
1. Kargah Buddha
Located six miles outside Gilgit, this is an archaeological site. The structure of Buddha is carved, with a height of 50ft. According to some reports, this engraving is of a man who was a giant eating men terrorizing the local people. It takes you a pleasant walk to reach up the mountain where you find a beautiful waterfall.
2. Karakoram Highway
Also known as the mighty eight wonders of the world with the most beautiful views as you travel through it as it’s one of the highest paved roads in the world. Driving through this road by car is an adventure on its own.
3. Taj Mughal
This is a victory monument of Taj Mughal, who was the son-in-law of the ruler Badakhshan and a preacher of the Ismaili sect. He built a memorial some 1000 feet above the Jutial and Khomer on the southern mountains. It is a 20-minute uphill walk from the base.
4. Saif-ul-Muluk
Mountainous lake in the northern end of Kaghan Valley sits 3,200m tall. This place is said to represent the natural beauty of Pakistan as it has the most magnificent views and the boat rides on this lake make this place even more fun to be at. Located above the tree line this place is also considered one of the highest lakes in the world.
